Patricia Lee Scheid, 81, of Owosso, MI, passed away at home on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023.
Patricia was born Nov. 4, 1942 in Highland Park, IL, the daughter of Frank and LaVerne (Collins) Pahlke. She spent her early childhood years in Chicago before moving to Coloma. She graduated from Coloma High School and Western Michigan University with her associate’s degree.
She married Peter Scheid in Watervliet, in 1968. He later predeceased her on Oct. 9, 2010.
Patricia worked at Upjohn Corporation and Midland Ross for many years before staying at home to raise her children.
She was a member of the Michigan Quarter Horse Association and Malamutes of America. Growing up, she enjoyed water skiing and ice skating on Paw Paw Lake. She golfed daily for many years, even playing 18 holes (walking with a pull cart) the day her first child was born. She also enjoyed spending time at the cabin she and Peter built by hand in Hillman, camping, gardening, boating on the Great Lakes, attending horse shows with her daughters, skiing with her son, traveling to Colorado to visit his family, and going to dog shows to watch her beloved Malamutes. Her doors and home were always open to her children’s friends, all of whom she considered family.
She was always up for an adventure and went wherever her kids led her. Above all else, she loved her grandkids.
She is survived by her children, Stephanie Griffin, Stephen (Nancy) Scheid, and Courtney Scheid (Matt Henne); grandchildren Faith, Ollyssea, Jackson, Madison, Ryder, June and Nora; and dear friends Skip and Susie Anderson, and Amy Holek, who helped care for her farm for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Scheid; parents, Frank and LaVerne Pahlke; brother, Frank Pahlke; brothers-in-law, James Malin and John Scheid; sister-in-law Marilyn Malin; nephew, Brett Malin; and special friends Clark and JoAnn Shanahan; and fellow dog lover Frank Harvath.
