Paw Paw Lake’s other liquid asset: The Bend Bar Food & Spirits

The address is 5613 Paw Paw Lake Road in Coloma, but for this local favorite, all you need to know is that is on the bend of the road.

Owner Lonna Adams bought The Bend Bar in 1996 from her mom and stepdad, who had owned it for 17 years prior. Celebrating her 27th year of ownership, Adams invites everyone to stop in for one of many menu choices, which will not disappoint, beer selection, or a cocktail.

Their specialty is chicken

The Bend is known for its chicken dinners with a crispy outside and tender and juicy inside. Many people make this a weekly stop because it is so good.

Customers can get half of a chicken, a choice of potato, and a salad, served every day they are open. The slogan for The Bend has always been “We serve the best breast and legs in town!”

Wednesday is burger night

With people being thriftier these days, many restaurants have created meal deals and The Bend is no different. Anyone can take advantage of the crowd-pleasing burger special at The Bend on Wednesday nights.

Who doesn’t love french fries with their burgers? It doesn’t matter if they are listed on the menu as a shareable appetizer or a side dish, it only matters that they’re crispy, hot, and have a great potato flavor. Also on Wednesday night, an order of fries is specially priced.

Stop in on Wednesdays for two specials that will not break the budget.

The weekends bring on more fun

On Friday and Saturday nights, The Bend Bar brings locals and visitors alike to gather for karaoke and just good plain fun.

For those who’ve ever wanted to get up in front of a crowd and deliver a favorite song, or maybe just goof off with their friends, karaoke can deliver as nothing else can. Not one to be in the spotlight? Then catch what may well be the next generation of YouTube sensations, American Idol contestants, or even outright pop stars in the making in the Paw Paw Lake Area.

There is more than karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights. Stop in to see what dinner specials they have cooked up.

Friendly service

Laurie Davis, along with Adams, make up the bar team. One is rarely seen without the other on the weekends hustling about making sure the customers are taken care of. Stop by The Bend and see for yourself if they hold up to their slogan. But don’t try to go on a Sunday or Monday, because they are closed. Tuesday through Thursday they are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Saturday the hours are 12 p.m. to 2:15 a.m.
