On hand at the Monday, April 22, 2024 Hartford City Commission monthly business meeting, by request from board members, was Van Buren Sheriff Daniel E. Abbott. The sheriff presented the board with facts and figures as to what it would potentially cost if the Sheriff’s Department took over 24/7 coverage as the police presence within the city. The top figure quoted was $116,000 for a “top end deputy.”
