Press Box Player of the Week: Alex Morsaw

Alex Morsaw, a sophomore at Hartford High School, and a member of the Hartford Husky junior varsity football team this fall, is the Tri-City Record Press Box Player of the Week for Oct. 26, 2023.
Alex was nominated for the honor because, despite not receiving the accolades that several of his teammates will get this season, he had a very consistent and solid campaign on the gridiron for the Huskies, who finished with an overall record of 8-1. Looking back at the final game of the season, which was a home matchup against the Lawton Blue Devils last Thursday night, he finished as the team leader in receptions, catching three passes for 46 yards, which was quite the accomplishment considering the weather conditions. On defense, he finished with a total of two solo tackles.
As the football team made their run into the second half of the season, Alex was playing at a high level. Over the last five games he was the team’s leading receiver, catching a total of 16 passes for 267 yards and a touchdown. On defense, over that same span, he recorded 16 solo tackles, three assists, one sack, two tackles-for-a-loss, one forced fumble and one interception, which he returned for a touchdown, before being called back by a penalty.
In addition to football, Alex participates in junior varsity basketball in the winter and varsity baseball in the spring. Outside of athletics, he concentrates on his studies in the classroom, which defines the term ‘student-athlete.’ He currently has five A’s, two B’s and carries a grade point average of 3.7.
Congratulations on this great honor, Alex, and on your achievements during the football season! We look forward to what you and your teammates in future sports will be able to accomplish the remainder of the school year.
