Press Box Player of the Week: Caleb Jewell

Senior Caleb Jewell earns the May 28, 2026, Press Box Player of the Week. The son of Clint and Jessica Jewell, Caleb plays pitcher and outfield for the Watervliet Varsity Baseball team.

Caleb threw a complete-game one-hitter with 11 strikeouts in a huge win over South Haven on April 28. At the plate against South Haven and Buchanan, he collected eight hits, including a double, while adding three RBI, five runs scored, and six stolen bases.

“Caleb pitched a huge game for us Tuesday in the battle of Divisional unbeatens and beat a really good South Haven team,” said Coach Tremblay. “He has also had a great year at the plate leading the team in most hitting categories.”

Caleb carries a 3.5 GPA and plans to continue his baseball career at Lake Michigan College after graduation. He was awarded 2026 SAC Scholar Athlete. In order to receive this award and special luncheon you have to maintain a 3.5 GPA and have earned at least four varsity letters in two sports. He has earned nine. This year Caleb was also awarded The Top Senior Male Athlete award.

In addition to playing baseball at Watervliet, he also is a huge contributor to the football and basketball teams.

Caleb was selected to play in the MHSBCA East-West All-Star game in Detroit on June 15 at Comerica Park.
