Ramona Sharon Belt, 74, of Dowagiac, passed away on Jan. 23, 2022 with her family by her side after battling illness for several years.
She was born Ramona Sharon Tallon on Feb. 12, 1947, in Bakersfield, CA, the eldest of five siblings. After graduating from Delano (CA) High School in 1965, she enlisted in the U.S. Army.
Ramona enjoyed reading, especially Agatha Christie mysteries, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Earnest J. “Joe” Belt, of Dowagiac; daughter Bethany Hand and son-in-law Tony Danneffel, also of Dowagiac; son Earnest J. (Christy) Belt, Woodbury, TN; grandchildren, Evan Belt, Struthers, OH, Lucas Hand, Kalamazoo, Jacquline (Isaiah) Cowan, Dowagiac, Eric Belt, Woodbury, TN, Toby Danneffel, Dowagiac, and Tyler Danneffel, Benton Harbor; brother Lowell Tallon, Bakersfield, CA; sisters, Naomi Grontkowski, Bakersfield, CA, Judy (Jerry) Tackitt, Dora, MO, and Joan (Richard) Bonham, Bakersfield, MO; and great-grandchildren, Eleonora Hand and Avery Cowan, Madilynn and Carter Danneffel.
Ramona was preceded in death by a grandson, Trevor Danneffel, and her parents, Jerry and Lizzie Tallon.
A celebration of life will be held at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma on Thursday, Jan. 27 at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Those wishing to leave an online message for the family may do so at www.duffieldpastrick.com.
