The Tri-City Area mourns the passing of Thomas “Tom” Smith, a long-time resident of Hartford, beloved family man, and pillar of the local business community. Tom passed away on January 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, hard work, and service that shaped both his family’s life and the area he loved.
A legacy left behind
Tom was known throughout the Tri-Cities not only as a trusted friend and neighbor, but also as a knowledgeable small-town businessman and some would say, “The Tire King.” Working alongside his parents who started Tom Smith Tractor Parts, the business served the needs of both farmers and the do-it-your-selfers, since 1965 to 2024, from their corner of the world at County Line Road and Red Arrow Highway, midway between Hartford and Watervliet.
