RICHARD D. HARRIS


Richard “Dick” D. Harris, 86, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Nov. 13, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Yore Community Church in Sodus. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Watervliet. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Memorial donations in Dick’s memory may be made to the church. Dick was born May 4, 1936 in Benton Harbor to Lester and Yvonne (Paul) Harris. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War Era and retired from Associated Sheet Metal in Coloma where he was the co-owner alongside Ron “Red” and Gail Kuelbs. Dick was a member of the V.F.W. and the N.R.A., was an avid deer hunter for many years and loved spending time with his family. Together as a family, they spent a lot of time on their boat and off-roading in their Jeeps.

Dick is survived by his wife Diann (Valenti) whom he married on Jan. 26, 1974; his children, Kenneth (Barb) Harris of Nashville, Tami (Robert) Clements of Auburn, IN, Dianna (Donny) Clemons of Hartford, Lisa Baum of Coloma and Patricia Harris of Benton Harbor; and his sisters, Jean Stainbrook of Coloma and Bonnie Cooper of Cocoa Beach, FL. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and his beloved dog Shadow.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love, prayers and support, especially Dr. Hinckley and staff for everything they did.
