Rick was born on Nov. 22, 1944 in Chicago. His family moved to the southwest Michigan area when he was a young boy. Years later he met the love of his life, Prue Forsythe, and the couple later married on June 7, 1963.
Rick worked for several different local companies over the course of his life, including Auto Specialties and later Lane Automotive for 18 years. He eventually retired in 2015 where he was the Assistant Manager at Cedar Creek Senior Apartments in Traverse City. When he wasn’t working, Rick enjoyed fishing and loved to go to auto races, both as a spectator and promoter.
He loved his entire family dearly and the memories they created together. As his precious grandchildren grew, he enjoyed attending their various sporting events and school activities. He also loved to play competition solitaire.
Rick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Prue; his son Geoffrey Kiekenapp of Watervliet; his daughter Amy (Craig) Long of Thompsonville, MI; his sister Sharron (James) Bolin of Plano, Texas; three step-sisters, Sally Carlock of Dowagiac, Nancy Traver of Hartford, and Betty Stock; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Ludwig of Coloma and Patricia Lottridge of Sawyer; four grandchildren; two step-grandsons; one great-grandchild and another on the way any day now; and a number of nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Wanetta Stock and his step-father Harold Stock.
