In loving memory of Robert Glen Fredricks Sr., 78, of Benton Township, who passed away to a better place on Oct. 6, 2023. Services have taken place and burial was at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Township.
Robert was born on Dec. 8, 1944 in Benton Harbor to Arthur and Elsie (Radke) Fredricks. He attended Benton Harbor Schools until his sophomore year, when his parents bought a farm in Coloma on Little Paw Paw Lake Road. He graduated from Coloma High School in 1962.
Robert had the gift of gab and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He had a curious nature and loved to jump in the car and go wherever the road would take him. Robert had a great sense of humor and always had a joke. In his younger years, you could find him sitting at the Watervliet Waffle House drinking a pot of coffee, reading the Herald-Palladium, doing the crossword puzzle, and socializing.
Robert never missed a Grandparents Day at school with his two grandchildren, Sasha and Robert. He enjoyed attending the Hartford basketball games on Friday night, proudly cheering on his grandson Robert III. He shared a love of teddy bears with granddaughter Sasha after taking her to her first build a bear. Sasha (Pumpkin Head) sent a special teddy bear they shared to be with him forever.
Robert is survived by his two children, Randee (Mickey) Williams of Hartford and Robert Jr. of Hartford; two grandchildren, Sasha (Matthew) Morsaw of Hartford and Robert (Lyndzea) Fredricks III of Stevensville; two great grandchildren, Gunner and Adesue; brothers, Larry Fredricks of Dowagiac, Dale Fredricks of Coloma, Walt (Nancy) Fredricks of Benton Harbor; sisters, Richey Losevs of Coloma and Julie Ticknor of Dowagiac; lifelong friend Rosemary Johnson; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Elsie, brothers Richard, Arthur Jr., and Donald, sister Connie, and daughter-in-law Paulette.
Rest easy, Robert. You will be deeply missed by all who knew you.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
