100 years ago – 1924

Salem Lutheran Church will hold its annual picnic at Jacobia, the beautiful Jacobs place on the shore of Lake Michigan. Through the courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs the church has been granted the use of the pavilion, the bathing beach and the chapel.

Miss Lucile Hocker, an accomplished and popular young lady became the wife of William J. Watkins, leader of the Lawyer’s University Orchestra. This wedding was a surprise to the orchestra members as well as their friends.
