The star thrower

One recent weekend, Marion and I attended St. Joseph Church in Watervliet with her mom. Father Adolph Nadrach gave an interesting talk. It was about a star thrower... a guy who was throwing starfish back into the sea.

That story first came to me when I was reading one of my favorite authors several years ago. The book is “The Star Thrower,” written by Loren Eisely. He was a professor of anthropology and the history of science at the University of Pennsylvania. Shortly after completing that book, he died, stepping down to lace his bones with ancient dogs and prairie shadows.
