SHARON L. CARNEY


Sharon L. Carney, 82, of Coloma passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.

Services were held Friday, Oct. 27 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Burial followed in North Shore Memory Gardens. Sharon was born Nov. 19, 1940 in Benton Harbor to Horace D. and Melba Jean (Woodrick) Lloyd. She was small in stature but her spirit and will were giant in size. Sharon was a great cook and enjoyed making several of the meals for the Watervliet Airport Fly Ins but what she truly lived for was being with her family, especially all of the grandchildren. In her free time she enjoyed traveling and was the treasurer for the Experimental Aircraft Association at Watervliet Airport. She retired in 2002 as a bus driver for Coloma Community Schools.

Survivors include her husband Don whom she married Nov. 21, 1959 in Hartford; two daughters, Denise Thoms of Howard City, MI and Diane (Allen Sr.) Fairbanks of Burr Hill, VA; one son, Don (Chandra) Carney Jr. of South Bend, IN and one sister, Pamela (Jerry) Wojtas of Surprise, AZ. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Allen, Aurora, Steven, Samantha, Ashley, and Angela; four great-grandchildren, Autumn, Brooke, Jack, and James; and one great-great-grandchild Grayson.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a son, John Allen Carney, two grandsons, Michael and Johnny, a sister, Marilyn Cotman, and a brother, Burl D. Lloyd.
