Shirley A. Aviles, 80, of Benton Harbor, died Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Pine Ridge Nursing Home in Lincoln Township.
Services celebrating her life were held on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township with Pastor James Dunn of Yore Community Church officiating. Burial followed at North Shore Memory Gardens. Please send messages or memories to www.florin.net.
Shirley was born on July 25, 1943, in Jefferson City, MO, to RC and Lorraine Kirby. She married her husband, Tom, and together they celebrated 45 years of marriage until his death in 2009. She worked in quality control at Modern Plastics for 30 years before retiring. She was a loving wife and mother. She also adored her dog, Roxy. She enjoyed shopping on QVC, coloring with pencils, sewing, and was a huge Detroit Lions fan. She was known as an amazing cook.
Shirley’s family includes her sons, Tim (Maureen) Ballard and Tom (Kathy) Aviles Jr., both of Benton Harbor; daughter, Joy (Jay) Haney of Coloma; brother, Charles (Jeannie) Kirby, of Coloma; sisters, Carol Hart and Helen Kirby; grandchildren, Jay T. Haney, Lindsey Dahlen, Madison Ballard, and Tiffany Brown; and great-grandchildren, Payton, Bailey, Brooklyn, Lori, Danny, Devan, Kaleb, Jenna, Harley, and Kai.
