Stephen J. Myotte, 71, of Watervliet, passed away at his home in the presence of his family on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 8 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Visitation will take place Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and you are encouraged to wear any Detroit sports apparel you wish. Memorial donations in Stephen’s honor may be made to Caring Circle (Hospice). Stephen was born Aug. 9, 1950 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Peter and Audrey Myotte. Following high school, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He and Toni Carr were married on May 27, 1972 in Watervliet. They were just shy of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Stephen retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2004 after 20-plus years. Family was the most important priority in Stephen’s life. Nothing gave him more joy than being in the U.P. with his family. He was a generous man who would help anyone in need. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s ball games, fishing, and watching sports, especially his Detroit Red Wings.
Stephen is survived by his wife Toni; three daughters, Dawn Romeo of Watervliet, Rebecca (Larry) Ryan and Kellie Myotte (James Popke), all of Benton Harbor; his sisters, Brenda Murphy of St. Joseph, Judith Hankins of Coloma, Mary Parce of Benton Harbor, Phyllis (Jack) O’Toole of St. Joseph and Karen Hosbein of Watervliet; his beloved grandchildren Jessica, Dominic, Audrey, Mia, Cayden, Hunter, Kinsley, Cody and Gavin; and his close friend Duane Fietz at Red Arrow Automotive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
