THELMA “JEANNIE” KIRBY


 Jeannie’s life began Oct. 12, 1959, in Rodgersville, Alabama. She spent most of her lifetime in the Southwest Michigan area. Jeannie enjoyed crafting, crocheting, baking, and going on drives. She loved spending time surrounded by loved ones, visiting with family and friends. Jeannie touched a lot of lives and had numerous adopted kids and grandkids, she was known as mom or Aunt Jeannie to everyone she met.

 Her greatest joy was her loving family she leaves behind to cherish her memory including: her husband who she enjoyed for 46 years Charles Kirby; three children Shaunna (Jonathan) Hartlerode, Krystal (Mike Hill) Kirby, and Shane (Ashley Zehner) Kirby; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

 Jeannie died Friday, April 17, 2026, at home surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by a granddaughter Sofia Kirby, her parents David and Hildred (Faulkenberry) Thomas, and three siblings Tina Thomas, Jimmy Thomas, and Lee Thomas.

 Jeannie’s life will be celebrated Monday, April 27, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. with visitation prior starting at 11:00 a.m. at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet.
