Mary Anne Lock, 65, of Coloma was called home by the Lord on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at her residence in Coloma after a long, hard battle.  Mary was born in Elkhart, Indiana on April 5, 1951.  She spent most of her life in Coloma, which is where she met the love of her life Donald at Crystal Palace Roller rink.  They were married on April 11, 1970 and enjoyed 46 beautiful years together.  Mary was a long time member of her church, Faith Lutheran of Coloma, where she volunteered her time as a teacher’s aide at the Christian Day School as well as teaching Vacation Bible School and Sunday school. The children all have very fond memories of her helping them in class.  She was also a member of the Ladies Aide serving many different roles and if there was a need – you would always find Mary there ready to assist. Mary had a love for many things including animals.  Many knew her as Doc Mary, whether it had two or four legs – she somehow knew what to do.  She had a saying “Ain’t no rest for the wicked”. With her wonderful sense of humor and quick responses, she was “momma” to many.  Spending time and enjoying her family was very important to her.  Also important to her was her love of birds, especially chickadees, camping, bonfires, cooking and gardening.  She worked at Fred’s meat market for many years making pizzas where she found a new passion: being a foster parent.  She was proud of her job in that role.  She loved each and every child as her own.  Mary will be remembered by many.  She was dearly loved and will be missed greatly.  Mary is survived by her parents: William and Lillian Altom of Coloma, four children: Donita Lock of Coloma, Brandy (Keith) Hiler of Benton Harbor, William Lock of Coloma and Amanda Lock of Bangor.  She has ten wonderful grand-babies: Bryndle, Harliegh, David, Jerry, Alan, Keith Jr., Liam, Delainey, Allaynah and Isiah.  Two sisters: Deb (Chuck) Terry of Watervliet and June Altom of Coloma.  Four brothers: Richard (Lynn) Winslow of South Haven, Robert (Lowenda) of Hartford, Steven (Norlyn) of St. Louis and Jeff (Stephanie) Altom of Milwaukee. Sister in law Nancy Winslow of St. Joseph and numerous nieces and nephews.  Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her brother, Floyd, her 3 sisters, Sharon, Ruth and Pauline and her grandmother, Lillian Baushke.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, July 19 at Faith Lutheran Church in Coloma. The visitation will be held on Monday, July 18, from 5PM to 8PM at Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Coloma.  Memorials may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church.  Please share messages, memories or photos at www.florin.net.
