VIRGINIA L. BECHT

 Virginia Lou (Thar) Becht, 99, of Coloma passed away peacefully on Oct. 7, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.

 Per Virginia’s wishes cremation will be taking place and no services are planned. Hutchins Funeral Home is assisting Virginia’s family and you may leave a message of comfort at hutchinsfuneral.com.

 Virginia was born on Nov. 24, 1925, in Benton Harbor to Ferdinand J. Thar and Louella (McCuen) Thar. She graduated from Coloma High School in 1944 and lived her entire life in the Coloma area. Virginia grew up working the family fruit farms for many years, even while raising her family. At the age of 16 Virginia was one of the first females in the area to have a pilot’s license.

 Virginia married Richard E Becht of Coloma on March 17, 1946. They raised a family of five children; Richard F. (Kathy) Becht, Starr Becht, Cindy (Dave) Muth, Lance (Debra) Becht, and Lisa (Dave) Gargano.

 Virginia has 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family.

 In addition to her parents and siblings, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 1996, grandson Rory Becht, and granddaughter Nikole Sherhart.
