Panthers vs. Comets in rivalry football
The 112th meeting between football rivals Watervliet and Coloma takes place at Coloma High School this Friday night, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. Watervliet looks to snap a two-game losing streak to the rival Comets. Coloma overall leads the series 67-39-6, not including Coloma’s forfeit in 2021.
The Panthers varsity team led by Coach Kevin Eastman, who had the privilege of playing in the historic 100th game between Watervliet and Coloma, looks to pick up his first win against the Comets as Watervliet’s head coach. Coloma is the early favorite in this one even though neither team’s season has gone the way they had hoped.
Coloma has gone through a coaching change midway through the season. New head coach, Josh Soderborg looks to pick up his first win as the Comets’ varsity football coach. With both teams most likely missing the playoffs, a win in this game means so much to the players, coaches, fans, and most importantly the bragging rights of the winning city.
