Watervliet Public Schools (WPS) conducted their regular Board of Education meeting on Monday, Aug. 5. The budget was discussed; they did not receive what they were expecting from the state, but they did receive the same amount in a different form of payment from the state in the retirement fund.
Discussions are underway regarding a bond proposal for next May. The focus is on what is absolutely needed and what is preferred to offer the children of Watervliet. Essential upgrades include safety and security enhancements, bathrooms at North and South schools, a new facility for the WAY Program (as their current container building is no longer usable), parking lots, air conditioning, and a new water heater.
