WELCOME TO WHOVILLE

WELCOME TO WHOVILLE… Fun was had all around Saturday when Watervliet celebrated “Come to Whoville,” this year’s theme for the Hometown Christmas Celebration that started at noon. At Main Street Oasis Park, families looked on as the new Snow Royalty, Prince Bradyn Fuller and Princess Annaleigh Rosales and their court was crowned. And for the first time ever, a vintage snowmobile show was held in the public parking lot by the park. With a dozen people bringing over 25 different vintage snowmobiles, this new addition to the celebration was a hit. There were also visits with Santa, the Grinch, and even Cindy Lou.
Spectators lined the street for the Lighted Christmas parade. The winner for this year’s “Best Decorated Side by Side” went to Ryan and April Flagel of Hartford. Following the parade a crowd gathered around the City Christmas Tree for the lighting by Santa Claus himself and to enjoy the North School choir, led by Mr. Mattson. The remainder of the evening was filled with Cookies and Cocoa provided by the Watervliet Fire Department while fun seekers strolled Main Street to look at the 12 business windows that came to life with live mannequins. Here are some scenes from Saturday’s fun. (TCR photos by Widdis Photography)
