The Coloma varsity baseball team hosted Centreville on Thursday, May 14, for a non-conference single game, looking to begin the final non-league stretch of the regular season with a victory over the visiting Bulldogs while celebrating their senior class.
In the only game of the night, it went the full seven innings with six critical errors proving costly in a loss, 4-3. After Centreville went scoreless in their first at-bat, the Comets struck in the bottom of the first inning, on a two-run home run, for a 2-0 lead. After the Bulldogs rebounded for a 4-2 lead entering the bottom of the fifth inning, Coloma got a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fifth to get within a run, but couldn’t get any closer despite loading the bases late.
