Delivered: Tax Cuts for Southwest Michigan Families

  Last week, I discussed how the “One Big Beautiful Bill” (OBBB) will positively impact our community and our country.  This week, I want to dig deeper into how specific provisions will uplift families across Southwest Michigan. The OBBB delivers on the promise of lower tax rates for low- and middle-income families. Taxpayers earning between $30,000 - $40,000 will see their federal taxes reduced by 16%. Those making between $40,001 - $50,000 will see taxes cut by 14% and those making between $50,001- $60,000 will see their taxes cut by 13%.  Despite what some in Washington are saying, the top 1% will actually pay more in taxes compared to what they paid before the original 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
