The Hartford varsity football team traveled to Gobles on Thursday, Sept. 3, for a conference game, looking to build off their opening week shutout and keep their record unblemished through two games, as a victory over the Tigers would seal a first 2-0 start since the 2018 season.

When the final seconds ticked off the scoreboard after a competitive contest from start to finish, the Huskies were able to fight off a challenge to win, 26-22. In the first quarter, Hartford got off to a strong start and got on the board first, capitalizing on a big play opportunity, pushing the ball into the end zone on a 47-yard touchdown run by JonJon Covington. Sebastian Balli-Resendez lined up to kick the extra point, which split the uprights, for an early 7-0 Husky lead.

extend their lead to two possessions. Once again, the ground game would be called upon to score points, which would take place on a six-yard touchdown run by Ryan Huminsky. The Huskies would hustle to the line of scrimmage, trying to catch the home team sleeping on the conversion attempt, but the pass failed, leaving Hartford in front, 13-0, with 7:43 remaining.
