MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY… was celebrated on Monday the 19th! All of the Tri-City schools honored this day along with the U.S. Post Office and the banks closing.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister and most visible leader of the United States Civil Rights movement. He advocated non-violent resistance to fight racial segregation and discrimination. Days after Dr. King’s assassination in 1968 Congressman John Conyers introduced a bill to create a national holiday in his honor. At first the bill did not pass.
