Press Box

Are you ready for a new year of sports? Here’s a simple checklist to see!

As the Press Box has mentioned in prior editions of the Tri-City Record, the 10th day of August marks the beginning of official practices for all fall school sports across the area – cross-country, football, men’s soccer, and volleyball, with first game or match dates being available shortly afterward. While camps, training sessions, and unofficial gatherings have been going on throughout the summer, this sports deal is about to get real, as the start of a new athletic year hovers just weeks away.

While these summer activities have been going on with little oversight, the official start of the fall campaign will be a completely different monster. This means that all student-athletes and their parents / guardians better have their affairs in order so that participation in games, matches, meets, or even practices, for that matter, can take place without delay. What does that all entail? Well, here’s a simple, short checklist that may put everyone on the right track, should they need it.
