NEW TRAIL SIGNS… The Van Buren Conservation District (VBCD) has unveiled a new series of interpretive signs along the Van Buren State Trail. Seven educational signs connect users with local agriculture, natural resources, and cultural heritage. The trail spans 14 scenic miles between Hartford and South Haven, following the historic route of a former railroad. Signs, in English and Spanish, cover many topics. Topics include the history of the trail and Covert, the forests and water it crosses, and the farming heritage of the region. One sign includes Potawatomi language, telling the history and enduring presence of Potawatomi peoples in the region.
