Watervliet Boys Basketball
The Watervliet varsity boys basketball team hosted Martin on Tuesday, Jan. 13, for a non-divisional conference game, looking to conclude their eight-game losing streak against a team that’s also struggling lately. One of their highest-scoring quarters of the year led to a win, 53-36.
The Panthers (2-8) may have been going through a rough patch in recent weeks, but perhaps this was a turning point, and they’ll get back on track. Our men in maroon and white took a 10-9 lead after the opening eight minutes, before a 21-6 rout in the second quarter would expand their margin to 31-15. The Clippers struck back in the third quarter to trail by twelve, 37-25, entering the fourth quarter, but Watervliet controlled the scoreboard, 16-11, over the final eight minutes.
