Coloma wins 10 matches, overwhelms Watervliet on wrestling mat, 59-18

When locals think about Coloma and Watervliet through a sports lens, they think of the battles on the basketball court or the football field. The rivalry between these two communities along Red Arrow, separated by just two miles, is intense.

Last Wednesday, Dec. 17, the Comets and Panthers met on the wrestling mat in Watervliet for a conference dual, with both teams looking to gain the upper hand in the rivalry and make early noise in the league standings. While both teams had openings on their rosters, Coloma was in a much stronger position entering the opposing gymnasium, and it showed on the final scoreboard as the wrestlers in green and gold capitalized on bonus points to grab bragging rights, 59-18.
