Defending the First Amendment

Recently, my office has received a large amount of correspondence from constituents in every corner of our district expressing concerns with attempts to limit the First Amendment rights enjoyed by all Americans. As your State Senator, I believe that the rights to freedom of speech and religion are fundamental to our free society. We are a nation founded upon individual liberty and personal responsibility. People should be free to express themselves as they wish and bear responsibility for their words. Likewise, every American’s right to worship according to their religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American life. Defending against assaults on our God-given right to liberty is essential to maintaining our status as a free nation.
