I’ve been encouraged recently by people encounters. I’ve noticed kindness. Many are rejecting the message that we should hate one another. The thought that those differing from ourselves need to be silenced, ignored and denied is not so easily becoming the new basis of our mutual relationships. We can all reject that notion. And we should. The idea that you have to agree with me in order for me to respect you is bogus. Jesus even takes it a step further, saying that we should love our neighbor and our “enemy”. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may prove yourselves to be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Matthew 5:43-45, NASB)
