I once knew someone that named their dog “Zoe,” pronounced “Zo-ee.” They informed me that it meant “life.” Well, Zoe was definitely a lively golden retriever, and I discovered that her name was actually Greek. Besides that, it is the word used in John 10:10-11 when Jesus, speaking of those who were His followers, said, “The thief doesn’t come except to steal, to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life (zoe), and that they might have it abundantly.” Life, as in zoe, does not just mean physical life. Much more it means “life’s energy,” or the “principle of life in the spirit and soul.”
