He knows your name

Running into a friend at the grocery store the other day, I wanted to say hi but I couldn’t remember his name. I hadn’t seen him for over a year, so forgetting his name was no surprise. I immediately began applying the alphabet technique for remembering names. I go through the alphabet one letter at a time, hoping the name comes to mind. Too late. He was already gone by the time I got to his letter, “G”.
