Nehushtan’s demise

According to Biblical history, snake worship had once infiltrated Israel’s religious practices. It happened sometime between David’s and Hezekiah’s reign, and involved a brass “serpent” on a pole that had been forged some 700 years earlier by Moses, at God’s command. (Numbers 21:8) The name ultimately given to the serpent was “Nehushtan”.
